MOTHERHOOD, An artist lecture | world premiere & Tour
I am the associate director for Motherhood, An Artist Lecture by Suzanne Bocanegra. The piece, directed by Claudia Zelevansky and starring Judah Lang, will premiere in November 2026 at the Texas Performing Arts Center as part of the Fusebox Festival. A tour will follow, including stops at ICA Boston in March 2027, and Walker Art Center in May 2027.
Suzanne Bocanegra examines motherhood as a political state of being. In keeping with Bocanegra’s slide lecture style, the work features the young actor Judah Lang as the artist’s stand-in. With sharp humor and sharper insight, the piece exposes the cultural and institutional forces that act on one of the most central yet undervalued cornerstones of human life.

In March 2027, I will direct the world premiere of SEE/UNSEE at HERE Arts Center. Writer/performer Lila Blue will be joined onstage by music director Noga Cabo and performer/musicians Mia Pak, Aviva Jaye, Gunnar Manchester, Adam Cabo and Saskia Lane.

SEE/UNSEE | Ars Nova Concert
On Monday April 13th, 2026 we will be sharing a concert version of SEE/UNSEE, a song cycle séance inspired by the work and life of painter & mystic Hilma af Klint, at Ars Nova. Writer/performer Lila Blue will be joined onstage by music director Noga Cabo and performer/musicians Mia Pak, Aviva Jaye, Gunnar Manchester, Adam Cabo and Saskia Lane.

my utopias | exponential FESTIVAL
This winter I’ll be directing a workshop production of my utopias, a play/potluck by Jay Stull at The Loading Dock Theater in Exponential Festival, with performances January 15-18, 2026. In the abandoned apartments of a suddenly vacant New York City, a group of survivors live a kind of idyll: they salvage, farm, cook, and wait for the species to come to a quiet end. This is someone’s utopia... and someone else's nightmare. What happens when we seize the narrative and question our role in the end of all things? Or question the end of all things at all?
SEE/UNSEE | Z Space & PRISM FESTIVAL
SEE/UNSEE, a song cycle séance inspired by the work and life of painter & mystic Hilma af Klint, will be in residence at Z Space in San Francisco for two weeks in May. We’ll share a work-in-progress version as part of PRISM Festival at The Brick, June 18-22. I’ve been directing and developing this piece for the last few years with folk musician/playwright Lila Blue, and an evolving team of performers and musicians including Mia Pak, Aviva Jaye, Gunnar Manchester, Adam Cabo, and Saskia Lane.

Liturgical Workshops | Sunnyside episcopal
This summer I collaborated with Fr. Carl Adair of The Episcopal Mission in Sunnyside on the site-specific, interactive, iterative performance that is a Eucharistic Mass. Over three “liturgical workshops,” we considered what values get upheld by all of the agreements one makes, implicitly and explicitly, when walking into a church, and how to shift those agreements in pursuit of a genuinely loving and liberating space.

In Spring 2024 I experimented with staging temporal dislocation through the Mercury Store Directing Lab, facilitated by Claudia Zelensky and Manuel Ortiz, and with advising from Aya Ogawa.
SEE/UNSEE | LAKE LUCILLE PROJECT
In July 2023 I co-directed with Brian Mertes a workshop of a new musical by Lila Blue. Inspired by the life and work of radical Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, this project conjures a story of grief, queerness, love, and the divine.
